Promotion
WHAT: Promotion refers to moving the student up to the next level in the LINC program once he/she is considered ready i.e. once the portfolio has been reviewed and there is evidence of progress
WHY: It is carried out to ensure a student's progress towards their overall goal of reaching their particular CLB level
HOW: The teacher should consider several aspects of a student's learning to determine whether the student is ready to move up. Once the teacher has reviewed the portfolio and conducted the end of term interviews, they can determine a student's readiness. The portfolio should contain 'sufficient' evidence of the student's ability to use the language and attendance should be acceptable (attendance is directly correlated with the amount of evidence a student is able to gather in a term).
Please check with your Lead Teacher and/or Program Manager if you are unsure about specific guidelines for promotion
