What is PBLA?
Portfolio Based Language Assessment is a 'comprehensive, systematic, authentic, and collaborative approach' to language assessment (Portfolio-Based Language Assessment (PBLA): Guide for Teachers and Programs, 2014). Assessments are classroom based and are built in the learning process for students. Teachers and learners work together to come up with goals and needs which are then taught, assessed and reflected upon. It also allows students to take charge of their learning and learn to transfer what they learn in class to other areas of their lives.
