Learner Conference (Mid-Term/End of Term) Interviews
WHAT: The mid-term and end of term interview is a short one-on-one talk with the student about how far he/she has come with regards to identified needs and goals. It can also be used as an opportunity to identify new needs and set new goals.
WHY: The interviews are an opportunity for the student and the teacher to go over the student's progress during the term. It focuses the teacher's attention on the individual student's progress, needs and goals and gives a chance for both to discuss achievements and challenges.
HOW: Teachers schedule a one-on-one 10-15 minute interview near the mid and end of term. Classes are cancelled and students come in for their interview. They should bring their portfolio binder to discuss progress. Teachers can use a checklist, question-answer format or a rubric to collect the required information. In all cases, teachers should pay attention to the following:

- Discuss goals set at the beginning of the term and how they have progressed towards them
- Discuss what they have learned, what they found easy and what is challenging
- Ask students if they liked the activities and pace of the class
- Ask students if they would have liked something different
